IMCA - Diver Medic Technician (DMT)Course Schedule & Registration
About the CourseCourse Overview:-The IMCA Approved Diver Medic Technician Course provides participants with the skills, knowledge and the confidence to administer the Life Support techniques learnt during the training effectively and safely. Attendees will be taught how to assess the casualty promptly and provide resuscitative measures with up to date emergency first aid equipment. This course will provide the attendees with IMCA approved DMT certification that is recognised internationally by the industry. Course Objectives:-To train offshore divers to be a competent Advanced First Aider. It is a known requirement by IMCA to have one member of a dive team who is not diving, other than the supervisor, trained in advance first aid - generally referred to as a 'diver medic'. At the end of the course, delegates will be able to:-- Perform a Basic Advanced Cardiac & Trauma Life Support. - Understand the Medical, Legal & Ethical aspect of a DMT. - Proper handling & assessing of patients of diving related injuries in a Hyperbaric Chamber. Duration:-2 weeks (Full DMT course) - 60 Contact hours Pre-requisites to attend the IMCA DMT course:-The Diver Medic must be fit to enter a chamber in an emergency and must hold a valid diver's certificate of medical fitness and maintain a personal logbook in which to keep the certificate and record details of any entry into the compression chamber. Anyone can attend the course, irrespective of their background and qualifications. However, only IMCA-Recognised certificates shall be issued to students who meet the following criteria:
