The IEMA
International Associate Certificate course enables delegates
to
develop a competitive edge in their
business by being able to effectively review business practise, manage

with global expectations on environmental issues.

WHO
SHOULD ATTEND
This course is aimed primarily towards Health and Safety professionals
with an international role that requires an environmental
qualification, and for facilities managers with an
international
remit.
COURSE
CONTENTS
- The concepts and principles and
nature of International Environmental Law
- The relationship between typical
regulatory regimes, international, national and regional environmental
policy
- Key areas of International
Environmental
Law e.g. marine pollution, deforestation, ozone depletion,
desertification, biodiversity, global environmental protection,
management of hazardous substances and chemicals, prevention and
control of pollution and management and conservation of natural
resources.
- Global environmental issues and an
understanding of how these contribute to the development of
international treaties, protocols and guidelines and how are they
implemented into national legislation.
- Key International Environmental
Agreements / MEAs (Multilateral Environmental Agreements),
International treaties, conventions and protocols.
- The compliance, enforcement and
effectiveness of international treaties, protocols, agreements and
conventions
- An understanding of the EU or other
relevant legislative process
- International trade agreements and
their effect on the movement of goods and services
- Sources of information on
Environmental Law in-country
On successful
completion of this 10-day course, all participants shall receive a
certificate of attendance from KBAT.

COURSE
FEE
The fee
includes comprehensive course
documentation, registration, project assessment and
examination
fee.
EXAM
INFORMATION
A closed book written exam is held on the last day of the
course.
The delegates have to complete 5 out of 8 questions. The
questions are essay style. Each question carries 20
marks. The
pass mark is 50%.
Delegates also have to complete a Preliminary Environmental
Review. This has to be submitted within 2 weeks of the course
completing and typically should be of 2,500 words (about 10
pages?). Delegates need to choose a workplace (usually their
own) as a subject for the review. There
is no proforma for the review but guidance is given on its
structure. Approximately 6 hours is required to complete the
review over the 2 week period. The pass mark is 50%, though
more emphasis is given to the written exam marks (60:40).
