COURSE OVERVIEW

This course has been developed for multinational organisations in all sectors working in accordance with international standards or directives but adapting to local needs. It provides organisations with a global presence seeking to adopt an internationally recognised health and safety training programme for its staff. The Certificate is an internationally recognised qualification and provides an excellent underpinning knowledge of safety & health and a sound basis for evaluating hazards and risks. The syllabus incorporates International, technical and other standards where they exist. In other cases, requirements and practices that represent 'good practice' are followed.

Topics covered during the course are broken into two units each with 8 elements and the third unit which is the practical application:-

Unit IGC 1 : Management of International Health & Safety

1. Health and Safety Foundations
2. Setting policy for health and safety
3. Organising for health and safety
4. Promoting a positive health and safety culture
5. Risk Assessment
6. Principles of Control
7. Monitoring, review and audit
8. Occupational incident Investigation
   investigation, recording and reporting

Unit IGC 2 : Control of International Workplace Hazards

1. Movement of people and vehicles – hazards and control
2. Manual and Mechanical handling – hazards and control
3. Working Equipment – hazards and control
4. Electrical Hazards and control
5. Fire Hazards
6. Chemical and biological health hazards and control
7. Physical and psychological health hazards and control
8. Construction activities – hazards and control

Unit IGC 3 : International Health & Safety Practical Application
The completion of a health & safety assessment of a workplace and a report to management.

The NEBOSH International General Certificate follows the same principles as the National General Certificate – achieving high standards of health and safety – regardless of any local legal requirements.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

The NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Safety & Health is for personnel with health & safety responsibilities, e.g. managers, supervisors, safety officers, non-safety specialists etc & who need a grounding & recognised qualification in occupational safety & health. It is also beneficial for those wanting to further their career in the HSE field or those who wish to enhance their HSE knowledge.

COURSE ASSESSMENT & CERTIFICATION

Candidates are assessed by an examination for each unit : IGC1; IGC 2 and IGC3 (a practical health & safety assessment of a workplace situation ). Each exam is 2 hours in duration. Candidates must achieve a minimum pass standard in all the examinations and assessment to be awarded the NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Safety & Health. Certification is issued by NEBOSH UK.

PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIP

Holders of the NEBOSH International General Certificate are eligible for membership of the following professional organisations, subject to their meeting the necessary post-qualification experience requirements: 

• Institution of Occupational Safety and Health  – Tech IOSH 
• International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM)  – Associate Member

STUDY IN SINGAPORE

Study in Singapore KBA Training Centre Pte Ltd is the only approved training centre in Singapore to provide the NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC). The courses are scheduled throughout the year on a regular basis, each course ends with the NEBOSH IGC Practical Assessment and examinations; check our course planner on our web site. In 2008, KBA commenced the NEBOSH IGC scheduled on a part-time basis which enable busy personnel (who are unable to attend the full time course) to work towards gaining the NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Safety & Health.
