On announcement from worldwide authorities of the mandatory shutdown period, restricted travel, the International Marine Contractor Association (IMCA) extended existing DMT Certification that required renewal with an expiry date for the extension period set at 30th September 2020 (ref IMCA D05/20). Subsequently, IMCA issued IMCA D21/20 outlining that the extension period ending 30th September 2020 will not be renewed and this document outlines the requirements for DMT and DMTR training, pre-screening advice and various learning modes: Distance Leaning, Classroom Learning, Practical Training. KBAT have now established an approved training mode of Virtual Learning with the support of regional partners for the practical and assessment elements of the training.
The IMCA Approved Diver Medic Technician Course provides participants with the skills, knowledge, and the confidence to administer the Life Support techniques learnt during the training effectively and safely. Attendees will be taught how to assess the casualty promptly and provide resuscitative measures with up to date emergency first aid equipment. This course will provide the attendees with IMCA approved DMT certification that is recognised internationally by the industry.
To train offshore divers to be a competent Advanced First Aider. It is a known requirement by IMCA to have one member of a dive team who is not diving, other than the supervisor, trained in advanced first aid - generally referred to as a 'diver medic'.

For Theory training, Practical training and Assessment - A minimum class of eight (8) divers is required to run this course while the maximum at twelve (12) for courses conducting in countries outside of Singapore. KBAT has the rights to cancel the course should the minimum class size is not met.
For Theory training conducted via Virtual Learning - minimum of three (3) divers is required to run this course.
Note: With effect from 1st July 2013, IMCA Diver Medic Technician / Refresher training will be valid for only two years instead of three years.
