IMCA has issued an information note (IMCA D 06/19) that 'Distance Learning Techniques are Not Accepted by IMCA for the Delivery of Any Diving Division IMCA-Approved Training Courses'. The issurance of this circulation is due to news that IMCA Trainee Air Diving Supervisor (TADS) courses are being offered through a distance learning package, and some certificates indicating satisfactory TADS course completions have been issued to persons who have not attended and passed complete face-to-face classroom-taught TADS courses.
Till date, IMCA has not approved, and does not approve, any distance learning training being the sole mode of study for any IMCA-approved courses:
Distance learning techniques may be used as a supplement to the full-time classroom taught IMCA-approved courses, but it cannot be used to reduce the content or the duration of the training.
